The Ultimate Guide to Setting Up Your First AirBNB/STR

“The AirBNB Hosting Hub” the ins and outs of AirBNB and STR

Starting an Airbnb can be an exciting and potentially profitable venture, but it requires careful planning and preparation. One of the most important aspects of starting an Airbnb is ensuring that you have everything you need to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience for your guests. So where do you event start? When I was first starting out and furnishing my STRs 5 years ago, I was always forgetting silly things!

No longer will you get that message from your very first guest asking “Hey… where is the hairdryer!” when you forgot to stock it! Here are some of my tips and tricks to furnish and stock your AirBNB/STR!

  1. Furniture: Depending on the size of your space, you’ll need to invest in furniture to provide a comfortable living space for your guests. This may include a bed, sofa, chairs, dining table, and other items. Consider the style and functionality of the furniture, and ensure that it’s sturdy and durable.

  2. Linens and bedding: Clean, comfortable bedding and linens are essential for a good night’s sleep. Invest in high-quality sheets, pillows, comforters, and blankets that are soft, comfortable, and durable. Don’t forget to provide extra blankets and pillows in case your guests need them.

  3. Kitchen essentials: If you plan on allowing your guests to cook their own meals, you’ll need to provide basic kitchen essentials. This may include cookware, utensils, plates, cups, glasses, and silverware. You should also provide basic pantry staples such as salt, pepper, sugar, and cooking oil.

  4. Cleaning supplies: Maintaining a clean and tidy space is crucial for providing a positive guest experience. You’ll need to invest in cleaning supplies such as a vacuum cleaner, mop, broom, dustpan, cleaning solution, and sponges.

  5. Bathroom essentials: A well-stocked bathroom is important for your guests’ comfort and convenience. Invest in high-quality towels, bath mats, and toiletries such as soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Make sure to also provide toilet paper and other essential items such as a plunger and toilet brush.

  6. Technology: In today’s digital age, providing technology is important for many guests. Make sure to provide high-speed internet, a television, and a sound system. You may also want to consider providing a streaming service such as Netflix or Hulu.

  7. Safety equipment: Safety should always be a top priority for your guests. Invest in smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and a first aid kit. Make sure that all safety equipment is up-to-date and easily accessible.

Starting an Airbnb is an amazing venture for most, but it requires careful planning and preparation. By investing in the essential items listed above, you’ll be well on your way to providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience for your guests.
